5 new tracks which will make you say “damn, this is some music!” (FFO: Music #1)

Hey. Welcome to our new series aptly titled “For Fans Of: Music”. If I’m lucky I’ll be able to squeeze out at least like, five of these per year. Honestly it must be quite obnoxious to think that the general public care about your tastes in music? Food for thought. These lists will not be bound by sound, genre, knowledge, or factual information – so if you’re a stickler for only listening to one type of music then scram, nerd.

First up we’ve got Worm by none other than Nikki Nair. I don’t have the vocabulary to accurately describe this song, but it kinda sounds like if Viagra Boys were to make some sick noisy electronic shit. Nikki’s been producing for a few years now, dropping weird & wonderful bangers left, right & centre. If you want some more check out Set The Roof off his collab EP from last year with Hudson Mohawke.

Next we’ve got the rapidly up & coming goth punk rockers Johnny Hunter with their new single Frustration. This band is so good it baffles me that they’ve not already skyrocketed into the mainstream but hey, sometimes everyone else is wrong. This song is a BIG (large), anthemic, synthy 80s post-punk bop. I will not elaborate. If you want more from these guys go listen to Try As You May and Cry Like A Man.

In other news, Otha just dropped a new single for the first time in like… 20 years or something. It’s titled I Hate You In The Morning and if you love dreary, hateful electronic pop then come on down. This thing’s been stuck in my head for weeks & I hate love it.

It’s Supposed To Hurt by House of Protection ~ this is probably my fave track to come out in the past couple months. A satisfying symphony of breakbeats, hardcore and punk that just smacks ya right in the jaw. Brought to you by some heavy music heavy hitters; Aric Improta (Night Verses, FEVER 333), Steven Harris (The Chariot, FEVER 333) and produced by the best thing that ever happened to Bring Me The Horizon (Jordan Fish).

Finally we’ve got Time To Be Real by Breaka. Bit of a curve ball as this song came out like three months ago or something (basically a decade ago in terms of music releases) but I can’t stop won’t stop playing it. Some no-messin-about bouncy techno to get you in the mood to move your pathetic little feet.

If you have some spare coin go support these artists where you can. Someone’s gotta do it, it might as well be YOU 🫵
